Soothing the soul in St Andrews
*23rd March 2020 – please note that as of last night, the government’s advice is that holiday travel is now considered as non-essential. Please see our booking conditions if you have booked to stay with us over the next 4 weeks .
We understand a lot of our guests may be anxious given the current circumstances and are undecided on whether to follow through with their Staycation with us. Now more than ever perhaps, a trip to the wonderful town of St Andrews is the perfect place to soothe the soul and self-distance whilst still being able to enjoy our stunning scenery and relaxing countryside.
The beauty of self-catering accommodation, particularly at this time is, if you choose not to, you don’t have to see a single person during your stay. You can pack your car at your end, head to Kingask and never see or be near another soul (if you want!)
We provide you with hygiene essentials (including the lesser spotted loo roll) in an immaculately clean property, all you need to do is bring your food and drink and shelves remain stocked in this part of the country.
Many of our properties do have lockboxes so you can even check yourself in. For those that do not, we are taking measures to ensure government guidelines are being met so we are placing keys outside of our office ready for your arrival, where there is disinfectant provided as well as disposable gloves. As much as we love seeing and speaking to you all, we hope you understand if we are unable to greet you. All our properties are cleaned thoroughly with disinfectant before and after each stay, as are all of our keys.
As the government guidelines state ‘you can go for a walk outdoors if you stay more than 2 meters from others’, which you can do in abundance in these parts.
Breathe in beach air
St Andrews and the surrounding area is littered with picturesque beaches stretching for miles, you’ll be lucky if you even see anybody at all.
Tentsmuir Forest covers over 50 square miles with a beach that seems to never end and more often than not, you can spot the seals basking in the sun.
South of St Andrews along the coast is Kingsbarns beach, a beautifully secluded beach with plenty of parking which gives direct access to both the sands and the coastal path, this is also home to one of the famous Cheesy Toast Shacks, which remain open to customers.
West and East Sands beaches in St Andrews are excellent for those coming without cars, as these are easily accessible by foot from all of our town based properties. You can also enjoy the Cheesy Toast Shack at East Sands and if you don’t get chance to give it a try, they operate on Deliveroo.
Peaceful parkland and countryside
If you are looking for a change of scenery, Craigtoun Country Park’s 47 acres of grounds remain open to visitors with beautiful woodland and open spaces. Although attractions are closed for the foreseeable future, the café is open from Wednesday – Sunday from 10am to 4pm for take out only.
The Fife Coastal Path stretches for over 183km with the most stunning views, you can walk for hours on end from village to village, paths are all wide enough to give other path user’s plenty of space.
Great for your dogs too
As always, your four-legged friends are more than welcome to stay in any of our pet friendly homes and we understand now more than ever, they are the perfect source of companionship both inside the house and out.
Days are finally getting longer, the sun is making an appearance and we want our guests to be able to enjoy the fresh sea air, feel the sun on your face for the first time in what feels like forever and make the most of a break from reality.
Please note, we can also accommodate longer stays in any of our properties if your plan is to escape the city for a longer period of time. Simply call us on 01334 472011 or email info@propertystandrews.co.uk if you’d like to find out more.
