Christmas and Hogmanay in St Andrews and The East Neuk

It’s (almost) the most wonderful time of the year, and why not come and spend it in one of the most beautiful corners of Scotland. Whilst we cannot guarantee snow, the sea foam on the beach counts as a white Christmas, right?

With a rather strange festive period in 2020 and being unable to spend it with loved ones, book in for a last minute staycation for Christmas or Hogmanay 2021 in St Andrews or the East Neuk. Whether you wish to make it a family affair, or a relaxing retreat for yourselves, it will certainly be a Christmas you won’t forget. The trees are starting to go up in our homes so all you need to do is pack your bags. We will also let Santa know you’ll be visiting so, if you’re on the nice list, your gifts will be diverted.

Despite St Andrews being a relatively small town, there are plenty of festive goings-on to keep you occupied, however long you choose to stay. Hopefully these few pointers will provide you with some inspiration.

The St Andrews Panto 2021

It is a Christmas tradition for many to visit the Panto, and we’re so pleased to see it return for 2021. With shows running up to the 31st December, and with very reasonably priced tickets, a visit to the Byre Theatre is a must.

The show this year is Jack and the Beanstalk, where Dame Nellie Numpty and her son Jack, come together to help save Christmas.

Festive menus and event nights

Although you will have your own kitchen in your self-catered accommodation, to save arguments as to who is doing the dishes, which is never an enjoyable task after a Christmas dinner, visit one of our local restaurants for an event night.

The Saint

Festive menu available, starting at £22.95 per person, including a festive glass of fizz.

Hotel Du Vin

Afternoon tea with a twist – Includes seasonal sandwiches, mince pies and cakes. Starting from £29.95 including a glass of Champagne.

Christmas Day lunch – Enjoy a festive feast from £99.95 including a glass of Champagne.

Boxing Day and New Year’s Day – Enjoy a lavish four course lunch from £32.95 per person including a glass of Champagne.

A very Scottish Christmas Eve – It wouldn’t be complete without a Ceilidh! Enjoy a 3 course meal, followed by a live fiddler with one of Forgan’s famous Ceilidh nights. From £39.95 per adult, including a glass of fizz or a dram of whisky, and £17.95 per child, including a gas of juice.

There is also New Year’s Day dining available, as well as Breakfast with Santa, on 18th December.

Bowhouse Christmas Market

For those visiting just before Christmas, you’ll be here just in time for the Bowhouse Christmas Market, taking place on the 11th and 12th of December.

Famous for championing all the best local producers and with every type of stall you could imagine, you’ll get everyone on your Christmas gifting list ticked off in one trip.

St Andrews Loony Dook

This one isn’t for the faint hearted. It’s a cold and wet New Year’s Day, so what do we do? Head to West Sands beach, strip off and get in the sea – It’s a different start to the New Year, that’s for sure!

With such a wide variety of homes, accommodating anywhere between 2 and 14 guests, we will be able to provide you with your cosy home-from-home over this special time of year. You needn’t feel guilty for leaving the dog behind either, as they are welcome in many of our properties.

Have a browse of our homes and book online. Or alternatively, feel free to give us a call on 01334 472011 or email, where we would be delighted to assist with any queries you may have.

See you soon!
