Fun golf for all the family

Despite St Andrews being a prime location for advanced golfers from all over the world, there is plenty available that provides golf-related fun for all members of the family, so dragging the non-golfers along for the vacation may not seem such a bad idea after all.

The Himalayas

This unique facility was founded in 1867 by the St Andrews Ladies’ Putting Club, which is now open to the public daily from April to September, as well as in March and October (weather dependant). The course lies between the famous Old Course and the picturesque West Sands beach, just a short walk from the centre of town.

Voted number two in The Courier ‘country days out’, the Himalayas truly is an excellent day out for all the family. They welcome players from ages 3 and up, with a nine-hole course available for the youngest putters, and an 18 hole course for the elder. There is a new 18 hole course laid out every Wednesday.

A lot of our accommodations and properties are centrally located and close to the course.

The green fee is £3 for adults and £1 for children. Equipment hire is included in the price.

Opening hours:
Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sun: 10:30am – 6:30pm
Tues: 10:30am – 4:30pm
Sat: 10:30am to 6pm

Crazy golf – Craigtoun Country Park

A gem nestled on the outskirts of town, Craigtoun Country Park sits on 47 acres and is open all year round. The park is the ideal spot to spend a day out with the family, there’s plenty to keep the children occupied which include the boat lake, Billy Tractor rides, bouncy castles, pedal cars and much more.

This is also home to the only crazy golf facility in St Andrews, the perfect way to enlighten children into the enjoyments golfing provides.

Entry into the park is free as is the parking. Tickets must be purchased from the ticket office to be able to use the attractions, including the Crazy Golf.

There is also a café onsite which is open Wednesday – Friday offering a selection of hot and cold food and beverages, as well as a range of children’s meals.

For the warmer days, there’s a variety of ice-creams and ice-lollies available. During the peak season, there is a ‘Snack Shack’ open offering a wide variety of drinks and snacks whilst you’re on the go.
