Golfing holidays in St Andrews after The 150th Open Championship
A historic event years in the making has been and gone in what felt like the blink of an eye, and we find ourselves reminiscing over what was a memorable week filled with sun, an electric atmosphere and of course – lots of golf!
Feeling inspired after watching the professionals’ masterclass on the iconic Old Course? Now is the time to pull the plug, round up the troops and book that bucket list trip to the Home of Golf.
With the vast majority of our homes within walking distance to The Old Course and Royal and Ancient clubhouse, everything and more you could need is practically on your doorstep. Here are 3 of our golfing retreats you need for your golfing holiday:
With a name that speaks for itself, Linksview needs no introduction. This duplex style apartment boasting a private roof top terrace overlooking the 18th green of The Old Course could not be more perfectly located.
One for the larger groups, Linksview can accommodate up to 8 guests across 4 bedrooms. The entrance hall benefits from a large, under stair cupboard providing space to store clubs and shoes.
The famous Auchterlonies golf shop is right next door, where you can grab yourself some Old Course merchandise because, why not?!

The impressive entrance vestibule benefits from a custom-made golf rack where you can store clubs and shoes. The Old Course is a mere two-minute walk away, with the famous Dunvegan just a couple of hundred meters away too.
The Golf Flat comes equipped with its own private, Astro-turfed putting green where you can get your putting practice in on an evening.
This ground floor apartment has two bedrooms, both with twin or superking beds offering flexible accommodation for up to 4.
The Old Course is around a 15 minute walk away, but if you do have a vehicle there is a private parking space right outside its front door.

Family golfing holidays
If you would like to get away with family but fear those who don’t golf may be lacking for things to do – fear not! For those looking to try their hand but are a little intimidated by the championship courses that surround them, have a read of our ‘fun golf for all the family’ blog, where you will find details on golfing activities suitable for all ages and abilities.
For those completely uninterested in golf, guests can make the most of our exclusive offers at local spas. Those not golfing can enjoy a day of total relaxation at a discounted rate at the Fairmont Hotel. Those who are golfing can also utilise our discounts at both Fairmont golf courses – The Kittocks and Torrance.
The Old Course is closed every Sunday and open to the public, where you are welcome to explore the course on foot. Dogs are welcome too and a photo on the famous Swilcan Bridge is of course an absolute must!
Golfing events
The Open has also inspired many to attend future events, and where better to do so than at the Home of Golf itself (again!). Most notably, The Dunhill Links Championship takes place across the 3 most iconic courses; Kingsbarns, Carnoustie and The Old Course.
A much anticipated annual, pro-am tournament which takes place late September in to early October, spectators can enjoy watching the very best professional golfers and many well-known celebrities battle it out on the courses. St Andrews comes alive with celebrities often spotted around town, including Justin Timberland, Chris Evans and Jamie Redknapp to name a few.
With some accommodation left remaining for the event, get in touch if you are looking to book (min. 7 nights applicable). Those available and within walking distance to The Old Course include 8b Howard place and 1 Howard Place.
Kingask, and The courses of St Andrews, look forward to welcoming you soon!
